A Vision for Generosity (Matthew 25:31-45)

According the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, since February 2020, the price of food has increased 23%, transportation 28%, and housing 20%.  We’ve all felt this in subtle ways.  Furthermore, when we feel that our economic strength is diminishing, we tend to unconsciously become less generous with those in need.  This begs the question, “What prompts us to concerned with the plight of refugee, the immigrant, and the dispossessed?  Even during a time of inflation, what induces us to be sacrificially generous with those in need?”  This Sunday, we’ll consider Christ’s answer from Matthew 25.

This sermon is part of a sermon series on our CPC’s vision and values.  We believe that God has called us to be a community that ‘loves and serves our neighbors.’

Lastly, to put Jesus’ words into action, we’ll serve as a church at the UpCounty HUB on Tuesday, May 14, from 1-4pm.  We’ll be packing parcels of food which will be distributed to families in our community.
