Our Calling and Our Confidence (Philippians 2:12-13)

This week Reverend Pickens will preach from Philippians 2:12-13, “Our Calling and Our Confidence.” These verses tell us that our calling is to work out our salvation with fear and trembling where our goal is to be completely conformed to the image of Christ. This involves active work on our part and we will see how we are called to work. These verses also give us confidence that this calling is achievable because God is going to certainly accomplish this so that while we are called to work God promises to enable and complete it.

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. (Phil. 2:12-13)
